Target: Madison, Nebraska
Left Kansas City around 8:30 am and made my way to Columbus, Nebraska to wait for storms to fire along a dryline in northeast Nebraska. The main storm of the day formed just north of Madison, Nebraska, so I adjusted my position north and watched it as it moved toward Stanton and Madison. This storm ended up being one of the more electrified storms I have ever seen. The frequency of cloud-to-ground lightning was easily 5-10 per minute. We followed the storm back to I-80, where we let it get in front of us. This storm went on to produce a strong tornado in Omaha and areas south of Omaha; however, On the back side there was an incredible mammatus show, which was enhanced by the incrdible cloud-to-ground lightning. We finally ended our day near Lincoln and finished in Omaha.
